Overall Rationale: The methodology behind this is that it goes from a predictive poll to a retroactive poll over the course of the season as more games are played. I know the idea of leaving in 1-2 teams is controversial (see OU, Mississippi), but if the two teams you've played are teams like Ohio State and Houston, I see no problem with doing it, and I reward teams who play tough schedules even if they lose.
