Keener1899 Ballot for 2016 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 19, 2016, 10:28 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Louisville Cardinals I had a tough time deciding who to put in the No. 2 slot. Ohio State and Louisville seem to be the most well functioning teams in the country. I gave the nod to Louisville because their win over FSU, though not on the road like Ohio State's, is in my mind more impressive.
Ohio State Buckeyes Urban has shown us again why he is the only other coach in the same league as Saban. Ohio State's defense and O-line have a little work to do, but I feel confident Urban will work it out. A really impressive win for such a young team on the road.
Clemson Tigers Clemson and Houston were tough to decide between. I give the not to Clemson here simply because of the huge differential in S&P+ and F+ rankings between the teams and Houston's win over Oklahoma is a little less glittery than it was last week.
Houston Cougars Keeping Houston steady here at 5. They did what they should have done against Cincinnati. Herman's showing us his coaching mettle. I hate to be "that" Bama guy, but he's proving the truth of what the Bear spoke about decades ago (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PtIaWpysSI).
Michigan Wolverines Michigan played an upcoming Colorado team and is topping the charts in a lot of the advanced statistics, but I'll need to see them challenged by a stronger opponent before I believe.
Washington Huskies Washington is really impressing me this year. They've been one of my favorite teams to watch play, but, as I said with Michigan, I need to see them challenged before I'm willing to move them higher.
Stanford Cardinal
Texas A&M Aggies I'm a believer in Texas A&M this year. The Chief has their defense in order and it looks like the offense is getting in shape.I still think the win over UCLA is impressive.
Michigan State Spartans I was down on Michigan State until this week; I thought it would be a repeat of 2011. But lo, Dantonio does it again. O'Connor is looking like he is developing into a stronger passer.
Tennessee Volunteers
Wisconsin Badgers
Arkansas Razorbacks
Florida State Seminoles I would have dropped Florida State further, but I still think they are a talented team. Jimbo just needs to teach this young squad how to dig deep.
Baylor Bears
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Miami Hurricanes
Florida Gators
UCLA Bruins
Georgia Bulldogs
LSU Tigers I'm giving LSU the benefit of the doubt here. They are one of the most talented teams in the country, but until I see consistent improvement on offense, I cannot move them much higher.
Texas Longhorns Only time will tell whether Texas should be here, higher, or lower. The ND win is looking a lot less shiny, and Cal was a hard loss.
Utah Utes
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Ole Miss Rebels Best 1-2 team in the country, probably. Personally, I think Ole Miss will probably wind up much higher than here. $wag Kelly is a deadly QB, and Stringfellow is an incredible WR. On offense, this team could take almost anyone when all their cylinders are running. The D-line is stout and the CB's seem to be improving. They also have very strong advanced stats rankings. But, until they match this potential with a few more W's they are going to stay at 25.
