fadingthought Ballot for 2016 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 18, 2016, 4:42 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama is the undisputed King of CFB but the King looked mortal in their win over Ole Miss. What is most scary about Alabama is how seamlessly they transitioned this season into a new style of offense. Scary stuff.
Louisville Cardinals Lamar Jackson is amazing and they way they dominated FSU was what edged them out over OSU this week for me. The talk is all about Jackson and how he is an early Heisman favorite, but what was most impressive to me was how FSU had complete control of the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Championships are won in the trenches and they have a squad that looks like it can win it all.
Ohio State Buckeyes Everyone thought this was going to be a down year for Ohio State, boy are we wrong. They looked in championship form as they dominated my Sooners from top to bottom. Urban Meyer is the second best coach in CFB and this team, with all its young players, is a perfect display of why. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do in B1G play.
Clemson Tigers
Michigan Wolverines
Houston Cougars
Stanford Cardinal Stanford looked impressive in wins over KState and USC. While it is still early and hard to gauge exactly how good those wins are, they are both P5 teams and Stanford handled their business.
Texas A&M Aggies Trevor Knight is a QB that has the arms and legs to make some waves in SEC conference play. Miles Garrett and the Aggies D are poised to give more SEC QBs a hard time. Their difficulty scoring TDs will be something to keep an eye on, but they have been looking good so far.
Wisconsin Badgers Trap game or is LSU just not who we thought they were? Georgia State is not a good football team but they Badgers hold a big win, it will be interesting to see how they show up next week vs Michigan State. That game should give us plenty of answers.
Michigan State Spartans This early in the season it is hard to gauge how good teams are. Michigan State looked solid in their win over ND. And while the box score was a lot closer than the game was, I don't think ND is a very good team this year.
Washington Huskies I'm lukewarm on the Huskies. They won games they should have won and they looked good doing it. This is Chris Peterson's 3rd season, but until they get into the thick of Pac-12 play, its hard to say where they will fall.
Georgia Bulldogs Georiga has showing some potential with a late rally to stun Mizzou at the end of the game. Compiled with a solid win vs NC and Georgia could make waves as they enter conference play.
Florida State Seminoles This spot is really a holding place for FSU. I was very impressed with their comeack win vs Ole Miss but they got dominated by the Cards. It was an embarrassment to the program. It might be a couple weeks before we get a real look at how good FSU really is.
Arkansas Razorbacks Arkansas handled business this weekend following heir thrilling win vs TCU. This week vs the Aggies is a game I'm really looking forward to watching.
Florida Gators I know they haven't played anyone of note yet, but as you get into this part of the poll this early in the season, you get these question marks. That said, Florida looks good and I think they may win the SEC east.
Miami Hurricanes Turns out App State isn't as good as we all thought they might be. If we had dynamic scheduling, I'd love a Tenn/Miami game next week. The U can tell us a lot about how good they are in the next two weeks.
Tennessee Volunteers The Vols are struggling with inferior competition a lot more than they should be. They may be playing down the their competition, but if this play keeps up it will be a long season for Tennessee fans.
Baylor Bears Despite all the drama happening in Waco, the Bears are quietly getting it done. Their Big XII schedule is front loaded with Kansas and ISU, so it may be a few weeks before we see how good they are. I wouldn't sleep on them though.
LSU Tigers Danny Etling looked like the best option LSU has at QB in their win over Mississippi State. It will be interesting to see how the Tiges progerss going forward. They need a QB to complement Leonard Fournette if they hope to compete this season.
Nebraska Cornhuskers What a fun game and a nice win for Huskers vs Oregon. Nebraska has a pretty easy schedule going forward, I wouldn't bat an eye if they stayed undefeated going into their game vs Wisconsin.
San Diego State Aztecs Transitive properties tell me that SDSA>Cal>Texas. I mean, that's why they are here right?
Texas Longhorns Texas, I feel you. I think the Big 12's hope at a playoff team may have ended with your loss. I get that it was a bullshit call, but that's how the chips fall
Utah Utes This early in the polls at the area of 20+ it is basically a crap shoot. The Utes beat BYU and it was a good game for them. I think their game vs USC should be a pretty good game next week.
West Virginia Mountaineers I feel like people are sleeping on West Virginia. I wouldn't. This is their year to take the Big 12.
North Dakota State Bison Gooooo Bison! I get it, lots of teams have victories over P5 teams. Maybe Iowa isn't that good and shouldn't have been ranked. I don't care. They beat Iowa playing straight up football. No gimmicks, goal line, I Formation, power football. I loved every minute of that game.
